An honest movie about honest poker players. This is great but i wonder if
anyone who does not play poker will watch it. Lets hope so, im tired of
hiding poker from my friends because they have no clue about what im doing
and that its not gambling because of the way i operate. That god damn
stigma is so strong, no one trusts me and i really need to earn someones
trust the hard hard way after spilling the beens about how i paid for my
    car,

Sugar-coat? So im playing the game straight up putting in hours studying
and beating my opponents but because of scandals that i have no part in and
a player who im not affiliated with im sugarcoating my life and what poker
is? Poker is a strategical game but ppl think its all luck because there is
luck involved in the short term. Its hard to explain to someone when they
dont like math and the games are played in casinos therefore i become a
scummy guy instead of an intelligent individual.

Honest? Perhaps. But let’s not forget FullTilt, Absolute, UltimateBet, and
a bunch of OTHER poker scandals! You really shouldn’t try to over
sugar-coat things. Plus, what about so-called “pros” – I’m talking to YOU
Chino Rheems, among others – who don’t pay their debts!

It’s not that I care so much about Chino, it’s about if you’re going to
promote poker as some great and noble profession – and I don’t – then you
have to tell the whole story warts and all. Chino doesn’t pay his debts. I
play poker to make money – not because it’s some great and noble profession.

You have the wrong picture when it comes to business. In every profession
there are scummy people and people who run their company unethically. The
problem with poker is that no one understands it if they dont study it and
the picture it portrays is that only lowlifes who gamble play it. Im not
saying that some dont but that there are honest intelligent players who do
this professionally and they never get enough attention. This movie gives
that attention and shows that poker isn’t all gambling.

SOOO upsetting that I missed that era of simple games, where just somewhat
decent players were raking in money. Especially hurts because now I’m 33
years old, living with severe Crohn’s disease, in and out of hospitals, and
forced to try and live off a small disability check since I’m now
physically unable to work. Have made a little here & there playing poker,
but I’m not ‘elite’. Plus, it takes money to make money. If only I could go
    back in time . . .

u pay $12 to watch movies at theatres that are less than interesting at
best. $10 it not that bad….

  • Tuxster3

    December 28, 2013

No, my picture of business is quite fine. True, there are honest,
intelligent players out there who play the game not to gamble. However, I
think they are in the minority. As far as the movie, as soon as I can get
my hands on a pirated copy from somewhere online, I can’t wait to watch it.
I’m certainly not going to pay $10 to watch it.

I never said you were sugar-coating your life and your poker. I was
specifically referring to the online poker scandals and the brick and
mortar losers , like Chino Rheems.

Charging that much to watch it is dumb! It’ll soon be pirated all over
YouTube and other video sharing and pirate sites. Then we can all watch it
    for free!

    December 28, 2013

Really? You know for a fact that I pay $12 to watch a movie at the
theaters? You know that for a fact? Are you willing to bet your life on it?
;P Actually, I’m a PIRATE, so I don’t pay for anything! LOL The last movie
I paid for was back in 1998 to see “Get Real” – and that was at the local
independent movie house and it didn’t cost anything near $12. So, there!
    Haha!
